Sport101 was founded with one thing in mind – to help athletes and coaches to reach their full potential.

It’s that simple.

We too are athletes and coaches and over the years we have experienced some of the very best coaching in the world and we want to share this experience with you. This is what motivates us to be better. Better than we were yesterday so we can make a bigger difference tomorrow.

Every year we continue to develop and improve the academies to provide an opportunity for aspiring young players to really achieve their goals and in an innovative and supportive performance environment.

This year we will have the most well rounded programme with more support than ever before.

Welcome to the 101Family

We deliver 10 week long hockey programmes at various points in the year. Each session is 1.5 hours long plus some addition bits which we know you will love!
At the academies you will get to experience and develop EVERY aspect of your game with leading coaches and specialists from the UK.
The programme is split into 3 blocks
BLOCK 1: PRINCIPLES OF HOCKEY
BLOCK 2: TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT
BLOCK 3: GAME APPLICATION
At all of our sessions we run at least 1 coach to every 10 players to ensure the highest possible contact time during the sessions. Our coaches are a mix of performance coaches involved in national league and TA programmes as well as U21 and senior international athletes. All of our coaches understand the ethos here at 101 and put the athlete at the centre of everything.
At the academies we go the extra mile and include additional specialist sessions and support to help in your development. The academy is about YOU and this is at the core of our values.
These include:
Personalised playing shirt or goalkeeper smock
Additional off pitch support and information
Connect with coaches both during the sessions and away from them if required.
Use of SPOND to provide regular communications throughout the academies.
Andy Gibson AKA “Gibbo”, was one of our coaches and a close friend who sadly passed away in 2021. Gibbo embodied what 101 stands for and hosted the podcast with Mike and Tess as well as headed up academy centres and ran coaches clubs.He was a truly talented coach who made a huge difference to so many who had the pleasure of working with him both on and off the pitch.
A foundation charity has been set up in his name and will be looking to provide opportunities for people across the country to pursue their passions in Hockey. We at Sport101 will be working with the foundation to support it however we can. We will be providing more information on this and how we will be supporting the foundation soon.

Specific Goalkeeper program

With our incredible goalkeeper coaches, we ensure all goalkeepers get the best experience possible. Our aim is to continue our track record of helping to develop junior and senior international goalkeepers from our summer academies. Plenty of time with specialist GK coaches as well as being integrated in with the outfield players provides a balanced programme for all aspiring goalkeepers.

National Academy Day

The National Academy day at Nottingham Hockey Centre is the crown jewel in the academy programme! We have been running National Academy days since 2018 and it is incredible to have 100s of athletes playing and training together from all over the country at one of the biggest non England Hockey events in the UK!
